274-foot, 25-story modernist residential building completed in 2023. Designed by COOKFOX Architects for MAG Partners, Atalaya, Safanad, and Qualitas, it consists of two towers (one on 28th Street and one on 29th) separated by a central courtyard. The complex was named in honor of fashion designer Ruby Bailey. They are both clad in warm brown masonry, banded from the top of the ground floor to the base of the 3rd floor, with polished granite piers frame window shops and entrances with glass doors at the ground floor.
Above, alternating piers with beveled edges and angled windows articulate the hand-laid brick façade.
The lower two floors are organized into 11 main bays, with an additional smaller bay at the east end. At the 2nd floor they each have wide pairs of windows (with a single-window at the smaller bay) separated by vertically fluted metal panels, with additional panels across the top of each bay featuring a criss-cross pattern. The 6-bay center section of the main facades have piers than are angled at both ends, with the outer sections are angled at the inner sides only.
The upper floors at the center section have 12 bays of single-windows between the beveled brick piers, while the west section has four single-windows and the east has seven. The end sections (as well as those at the 3rd floor in the center section) have custom ornamental scrims on the Juliet balconies, and metal panels at the tops of each window split into three squares. In the center section the horizontal brick spandrels between floors are spaced only at every other floor; the alternating floors instead have taller metal spandrel panels in between. The center section sets back above the 15th floor, with the outer sections stair-stepping up a floor at each bay to full-floor setbacks above the 19th & 20th floors. The ends are set back again above the 22nd floor.
The side elevations of both buildings are pre-cast concrete, painted to match the brick on the main facades. Both buildings have a pair of single-windows at the top four floors below the main setback. The top floors have continuous brick piers and metal spandrels. Facing the courtyard, both buildings have a vertical band of dark-grey metal paneling running up the inner facades. These extend above the lower roof line and continue to form penthouse levels and mechanical bulkheads above.
The complex contains 480 apartment units.
