neighborhood, draw only border, town district
This is not a recognised NYC neighborhood as such, but rather a construct as widely used by realtors, tourist businesses, hoteliers and other businesses to describe a city district not otherwise within a recognised neighborhood.
It runs approx from Bryant Park (@42nd street) in the north to Madsion Square (@ 23rd. street) in the south, from 6th Ave. (Avenue of the Americas) in the west to Park Ave. or even Lexington Avenue in the east (including Korea Town) which however is a recognised separate sub-neighborhood of long standing, and now also including NoMad (the district north of Madison Square) which as a recognised neighborhood, has only recently been coined in the early 1990-'s.It approximates to roughly the eastern half of the NYPD's 14th. Precinct also colloquially called Midtown South.
Within this district toward its southeastern end is also a newly coined sub-area called 'Curry Hill', so named for the propensity of Indian and Southeast Asian restaurant's which have sprung up around there.
