The Seven Streets Precinct, also known as 'Chit Tiau Lor' in Penang Hokkien, is a neighbourhood and a heritage area within the city centre of George Town. In the 19th century, this area to the south of the Prangin Canal was home to Chinese villages. To this day, the Seven Streets Precinct is a working-class, predominantly Chinese neighbourhood, with century-old shophouses dominating the landscape.
The Seven Streets Precinct is so named after the seven parallel streets within the area, namely Magazine Road, Noordin Street, Presgrave Street, Tye Sin Street, Macallum Street, Katz Street and Cecil Street.
