Sungai Nibong is a neighbourhood within the city of George Town. Straddling the boundary between the Bayan Lepas and Gelugor suburbs, Sungai Nibong is located approximately 8.7km southwest of the city centre. Sungai Nibong is named after the river Sungai Nibong, which has been canalized.
Sungai Nibong became a residential neighbourhood following the establishment of the Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone (Bayan Lepas FIZ) in 1972. It is home to the Penang Pesta Site, which hosts the annual Pesta Pulau Pinang festival that caters mostly for local residents. The Sungai Nibong Express Bus Terminal, the point of arrival and departure for interstate buses, is also sited here. Sunshine Lip Sin, a local hypermarket, caters to the residents of this neighbourhood.
