5-story residential building originally completed as the northern two houses in a row of three in 1845. These two (167 & 169) were combined into a single building and the upper stories raised to their present heights in the mid-1890s. No. 169 originally had a shop built into the ground floor; No. 167 had the first floor converted to a store in 1859. The current joined building is clad in brick with a thin veneer of beige stucco applied. The ground floor has a cast-iron storefront at the east end.
The upper floors on the east facade have four bays of single-windows with green-painted stone sills and lintels, and the building is topped by a green modillioned and dentiled roof cornice. A wrought-iron fire escape with basket-style landings runs down the middle two bays.
The residential entrance is on 20th Street, near the western end, with a low, 3-step stone stoop between two sets of short iron fencing; it is set beneath a green-painted arch supported by Ionic columns, and has an elegant fanlight above the double-doors. There is a narrow window to the right, and a slightly wider and shorter window to the left, with a third window near the east end, adjoining the storefront. The upper floors have six bays of single-windows, with one additional bay of smaller bathroom windows near the middle. The roof cornice continues across this facade.
The ground floor is occupied by Bocca di Bacco restaurant.
