6-story residential building completed in 1890 as a printing plant for John Jacob Astor. A narrow 5-window-wide wing extends through the block to West 14th Street. All three facades are have buff-colored brick pilasters dividing the wide window bays. The west elevation along Hudson Street has seven bays with triple-windows, except for the double-window north bay. The south elevation along 13th Street has eight bays of quadruple-windows. The ground-floor windows are fronted by metal grilles. Ornately carved white terra-cotta spandrel panels separate each floor. The building is crowned by a grey, projecting, double-bracketed cornice with dentils and swag in the frieze. Eli Attia Architects converted the building to condominiums with 47 units in 1996-99, with a new, recessed penthouse floor and rooftop garden and terraces.
