 apartment building, 1923_construction

6-story cooperative-apartment building originally completed in 1923 as a parking garage. The building replaced a 1910 warehouse storing whiskey and flash powder that burned for five days in 1922, killing two firefighters. The current building was converted from a garage to residential in 1985. It extends through the block, but has no entrance on Jane Street. The facade is similar on both sides, clad in red brick, and topped with a brick parapet and turrets.
