 apartment building, 1840s construction

3-story residential building completed in 1845 as a townhouse for Louis Peugnet. The Peugnets, who had been officers in Napoleon's army at Waterloo, were involved in a plot to rescue Napoleon from Elba and bring him to Canada, where they had emigrated in 1822.

The building has a high stoop leading to a deeply-recessed doorway. The stone window lintels are flush with the brickwork. The roof cornice with plain fascia board is a latter-day replacement of the original.
