6-story residential building completed in 1871. Designed by J. & D. Jardine as a hotel for owner Charles Knox. All the windows above the 3-bay ground floor have iron drop-lintels decorated with spiral molding and intricate foliation. The black cast-iron storefront, while formed of simple paneled pilasters and capped by a modillioned cornice, achieves special interest with the use of stained glass panels above the door and show windows. The intricacy of the ironwork does much to enhance what would otherwise be a very ordinary brick facade. A black iron fire escape runs down the left two-thirds, and the building is crowned by a black iron bracketed roof cornice. The exposed upper portion of the eastern wall is clad in red brick, with a handful of windows at the rear. The ground floor is currently occupied by Free People clothing store.
