5-story residential building completed in 1858 as a store and light manufacturing building. The facade is composed of red brick and a black cast-iron storefront on the ground level The Prince Street elevation has three bays, while on Mercer Street there are four bays at the rear, with a large blank area separating another bay at the front (north end). At the roof is a black metal bracketed cornice with modillions. A black metal fire escape on the south end of the Mercer facade is shared by the neighboring building. The ground floor is currently occupied by Fanelli's Cafe (the second-oldest bar in New York, serving since 1847 - even before the present building was constructed). The Fanelli family owned the building from 1922-1982.
