On this lot originally stood a 5-story 1886 cast-iron building designed by George DaCunha. It was converted from a store to a cooperative in the 1900s.

In 2004, following the demolition of the 1-story building next door, heavy rains undermined the foundation of the building, causing it to lean 30" inches and threaten collapse. For five years, the building was propped up with steel bracing and covered with black netting.
In 2009, the building's fate was finally sealed, as crews began dismantling the cast-iron facade (but cataloguing and storing the pieces for future rebuilding). By 2010, the bricks and mortar of the rest of the building were removed, and the site cleared.

In 2013, a proposal for the site was presented which would basically rebuild the previous building as a condominium, complete with the original cast-iron facade, and with two additional floors of penthouses on top.
