5-story Italianate-style mercantile building completed in 1858. It was built for George Hyatt, who owned a successful carpet business that occupied the building for many decades. The building spans across the block to Howard Street, angling in the middle. It is clad in off-white stone, with full window enframements. It has a bracketed roof cornice with a tall parapet above it. The Howard Street elevation is smooth-stuccoed and painted grey above a white cast-iron ground floor, and a narrow black iron fire escape in the center.

Besides the Hyatt Company, the building was occupied by a variety of commercial interests over the years, including a paper box manufacturer, a novelty shop, and a cotton wholesaler in the late nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries, and a rag warehouse, a furniture store and a druggist in the mid-twentieth century. A Burger King currently occupies the ground level.
