apartment building, 1904_construction, Renaissance Revival (architecture)

6-story Renaissance-revival residential building completed in 1904, renovated in 2004. Designed by Sass & Smallheiser, it is clad in dark-red painted brick above a variegated brick ground floor. The two outer thirds of the 6-bay facade project forward slightly, with each third having two windows on the upper floors. There is horizontal banding across the other thirds of each of the upper floors, and across all of the 2nd floor, which is topped by a white stone carved cornice. The windows all have splayed stone lintels with variations of scrolled keystones. Except for the keystones on the 2nd floor, all the lintels and keystones have also been painted dark red. A black iron fire escape runs down the center of the facade. The building is crowned by a bracketed metal cornice with modilions and dentils, that also projects out slightly over the outer thirds of the building.
