A pair of twin-facaded 7-story Renaissance-revival residential buildings built as tenements in 1900. Designed by Michael Bernstein, they are clad in yellow-tan brick, with metal fire escapes running down each 4-bay facade. The outer bays have elaborate stone enframements; on the 3rd floor, the outer bays have windows capped by rounded pediments and with carved panels below. The 5th floor outer windows have triangular pediments. The original decorative stepped cornice on No. 144 has been replaced with a much simpler one. The ground floor of No. 142 is occupied by RBBTS restaurant, while 144 houses The Room, a bar.
