4-story Federal-style residential building completed about 1822. The building has red-painted Flemish bond brick and paneled stone window lintels. The 4th story, rear addition, and bracketed & dentiled cornice, which display transitional elements of the Greek-Revival and Italianate styles, were probably added by around 1850, when the area was becoming more commercial in character. The front facade on Grand Street is three bays wide, while the longer Crosby Street elevation runs nine unevenly spaced bays, plus a single window in the center on the 3rd floor.

The building’s first story was converted to a storefront in the mid-to-late nineteenth century, and was occupied by a military clothing store in 1874. A pawn shop was located there in 1888, a leather goods store in 1902, and a brewery in 1907. At some point, the building’s upper stories were converted to small manufacturing lofts. The ground floor is currently occupied by the Grand Food Market, an Asian retail food store, with residential lofts above.
