 apartment building  Add category

6-story residential building completed in 1866 as a 5-story store-and-loft building. The additional story was added in 1896, designed by Oswald Wirz. The current appearance of the building is the result of alterations undertaken in 1927; a new brown brick facade, designed in an early-twentieth-century commercial style, was constructed to replace the nineteenth-century facade which had been damaged by fire. In 1927, at the time of its remodeling, this building was used for the manufacturing of cotton goods and gauze bandages. It currently is commercial at the ground floor and is in residential use above. The ground floor is occupied by Kori restaurant, and O.K. Uniform Company.
