5-story Italianate/Second Empire-style residential building completed in 1878. Designed by John B. McIntyre as a store-and-loft building, it is clad in white marble. Various ornamental heads cap the windows; the 2nd floor has broken scrolled pediments, the 3rd floor has triangular pediments at the end bays and a scrolled pediment at the center bay, the 4th floor has projecting flat lintels at the end bays and a triangular pediment at the center bay, and the 5th floor has projecting flat lintels. The facade is crowned by a black metal roof cornice with elongated brackets. The 1st story retains its original cast-iron storefront framing, consisting of fluted columns and piers supporting an entablature.

In 1881, the present building was purchased by Charles Fries, president of Alexander Fries & Brothers, a chemicals firm. The Fries Brothers firm remained at 92 Reade Street through the 1940s, though the building was sold to the Torsion Balance Company in the 1920s. Other tenants have included the firm of John T. Walker, glass bender and cutter; Becker Christian Inc., manufacturers of scales; and the Yorktown Electrical Supply Co. It was converted to residential in the 1980s. The ground floor is occupied by Color Me Mine do-it-yourself ceramics studio.
