New York University-owned apartment compound of two buildings built in 1956 for Washington Square Corporation – a syndicate headed by developers Paul Tishman Co. and Morton S. Wolf. It was designed with two major sections for each building - along with playground and underground garage facilities. The complex was purchased by NYU in 1960 after the private syndicate fell into financial troubles.
