A group of four buildings, which combine old and new architecture, fronting on Mercer Street and Broadway. In 1981 several older loft buildings were combined with a new 14-story building to create this project - on the Broadway frontage, a 1979 fire had destroyed a 19th-century loft building, leaving its decorative marble facade standing, but in danger of collapse. The facade was restored and incorporated into the complex, which was converted to a cooperative in 1984. The new-construction buildings were designed by Avinash K. Malhotra for Rockrose Development. The four buildings are arranged around a courtyard area, with a 1-story angled structure of brown brick facing Bleecker Street.
The marble facade on Broadway has both round-arched and segmental-arched windows, with keystone at the top of each, and Corinthian columns. The southermost part has a triangular pediment at the top, and there are smaller, rounded pediments on the center sections. The north-center section has a pair of balustraded balconies; the north section has wider balconies, also with balustrades. It has an extra attic floor, with a projecting dentiled cornice above.
The new buildings are clad in brown and red brick, respectively. The wider southern one is more modern, with four bays of horizontal windows, offset in height from one bay to the next. The top floors are set back above the 8th story. The northern building has more traditional windows with white metal cornices.
Ground level retail tenants (all on Broadway) include Fame New York apparel store, Eyes on Broadway opticians, Maria Tash piercings, Entertainment Exchange, Roni boutique, and Blades board and skate shop.
