1974_construction, apartment complex
Waterside Plaza was a Mitchell-Lama Housing Program funded rental apartment complex completed in 1974 and located in the Kips Bay section of Manhattan, New York City. Plaza was designed by the architecture firm of Davis, Brody & Associates.
The development is notable for being constructed atop debris and rubble from the British city of Bristol. After being bombed by the Luftwaffe during World War II, some of that city's ruins were used as ballast for United States Navy ships returning from England. It was deposited here, creating a small extension of Manhattan.
