Gramercy Townhouse (New York City, New York)

4-story residential building originally completed in the late 1800s as a 3-story townhouse. It was gut-renovated in 2015, and given a new facade and top floor. For several years after, Gramercy Townhouse operated as a successful luxury vacation rental home that has been occupied by top-tier corporations and celebrities. It is now configured into two apartment units.

The facade is clad in red brick, with the top of the 3rd floor and the set-back 4th floor is grey shingles and siding. A 2-step bridge on the left spans a basement areaway and accesses a red wood-and-glass door and transom. To the right is an expansive industrial-style window with black metal framing, extending all the way down to the basement level. The 2nd floor has three narrow French windows with black framing, the lower halves fronted by metal railings. The 3rd floor has two slightly wider bays of similar design. Halfway up, these windows split a projecting black metal cornice, above which begins the shingled mansard that is capped by a white metal cornice at the top of the 3rd floor. The east bay of the 4th floor is less set back than the rest, and has a window bay. Another white cornice tops the 4th floor.
