office building, Modern (architecture)
935-foot, 58-story futurist/modernist office building completed in 2022. Designed by Skidmore Owings and Merril, it is clad in silvery-blue glass, and is a slightly shorter companion tower to One Manhattan West, completed three years earlier directly to the north. Like that tower, this one has rounded corners, and a 45-foot lobby clad in clear glass, with a pedestal-like, travertine-clad core that curves outward toward the top of the lobby area. The main entrance has two sets of glass revolving doors and two sets of glass double-doors. There are two revolving doors and one set of glass double-doors in the side facades. The west end of the base has a small section of darker glass, with metal service doors at the ground level.
The south, east, and west faces of the tower rise vertically up from the ground, while the north face bows out until the 16th floor and then tapers in uniformly to the roof. The structural system of the tower is composed of a central reinforced concrete core and a perimeter steel moment frame. Part of the tower overhangs the below ground train tracks leading into Penn Station. In order to avoid the tracks, the perimeter columns on the south, north, and east sides do not come down to ground level, but are transferred to the core above the building's lobby. Besides being slightly shorter than the north tower, Two Manhattan West is also rotated 90 degrees in plan.
Tenants include Cravath, Swaine & Moore, KPMG, and D.E. Shaw & Company.
