 condominiums, 2007_construction

173-foot, 13-story modernist residential building completed in 2007. Designed by Jean Nouvel and Schuman, Lichtenstein, Claman & Efron, it is clad in glass with a framework of narrow grey metal elements. The first five floors rise vertically to a large setback with a terrace; the remaining floors rise from the northern half of the building footprint. Lord & Taylor had its department store here at this site, in a building by Griffith Thomas put up from 1860-72. That building was demolished after a 1967 fire. The current building's ground floor is occupied by a Wells Fargo Bank branch, Dermalogica, and Vivienne Tam boutique.
