79 Worth Street

USA / New Jersey / Hoboken / Worth Street, 79
 apartment building, 1860s construction

5-story residential building completed in 1860. It is nearly identical to its neighbor, 83-85 Worth, which was completed at the same time. The building is faced in marble above the first story, with quoins at the corners. The original cast-iron storefront framing of the first
story was replaced by a stone front in the late 1920s, with two large arched show windows in the center, and doorways on either side. The upper-floor windows have projecting sills with corbelled feet and cornices. The facade is crowned by a modillioned and dentiled roof cornice. The building contained office space throughout 1900s until being converted to residential use around 2000. The ground floor is occupied by Pas de Deux salon.
