4-story Federal-style residential building completed in 1835 as a 3-story townhouse. It was raised a floor in 1890 and converted to a multiple-family dwelling. The 3-bay south section facing Bleecker is clad in brick, painted red on the upper floors and white on the ground floor. It has a black metal fire escape over the two western bays. The roof is peaked, and there is a 2-story, white-painted brick extension running along Thompson Street that has exterior shutters on the windows. The ground floor was occupied by Back Fence bar, which closed in 2013 after 68 years at this location. The rear extension is occupied by Toloache taqueria.
