Built in 1993-94 as part of the North American Air Defense Modernization (NAADM) program, Forward Operating Location Inuvik operates as an as-needed deployment facility for Canadian Air Force and NORAD aircraft and support crews. Built with hangar space for up to six fighter aircraft, dormitory space for up to 200 support personnel and storage facilities for supplies and provisions, the facility was activated for service in 1994.
