The Highest Reservoir In Bulgaria - 2394m. Water volume - 1 mln. cubic meter.Kalin Dam is the highest located dam in Bulgaria and on the Balkan Peninsula - 2394 m above sea level.It was built in 1943-1946 by the Granitoid Company, together with the high-mountain hydroelectric power plants of the Rila Group - Kalin, Kamenets, Pastra and Rila. It is connected by a vertical shaft and a tunnel to the Karagyol dam located nearby, thus forming the "docked vessels". Ivan Vazov tourist hut is located near the dam. The area is reached via a scenic road, starting from the village of Pastra and overcoming about 1700 meters of displacement on the slopes of Rila.
