The Iskar Reservoir is the largest one in Bulgaria (673 mln m³). It is situated on the Iskar River and provides 2/3 of the water for the capital Sofia, and also is being used for producing electricity. This is a favorite camping and fishing spot for the citisens of Sofia.
The reservoir was built in the period 1950-1954. 3 villages submerged under the water - Shishmanovo, Gorni Pasarel and Kalkovo.
