The home was designed by local architects Leybourne & Whitney in 1913. F.E. Harvey was the treasurer of the Caldwell Sand & Gravel Company, as well as the Kiwanis Governor, and was lauded as a Windsor Business, Club and Church leader. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and was the church treasurer of the First Church of Christ, Scientist (located at Giles Boulevard & Pelissier Avenue). When he passed away from appendicitis on March 27, 1943 in his 70s, he was still residing here. He was born in Utica, Michigan, first working in banking in Detroit and Chicago, before coming to Windsor in 1904. His funeral was held in Windsor, but was buried in his home town of Utica.
