Originally constructed in 1911 for the Ideal Spring Company, which later became affiliated with Leggett and Platt, the plant was acquired in 1925 by L.A. Young Industries of Detroit. After four additions, the plant employed 400 to 500 workers in 1927, manufacturing auto cushion springs. In 1964 the factory was purchased by Chrysler and was known as the Chrysler Spring Plant No 1.
Since the departure of Chrysler in 1985, the building has been subdivided into a number of units and houses various tenants including Forest City Fire Protection and C/S Logistics.
