Established around 1874, it is one of the Heavenly Rest Family of Catholic Cemeteries. The oldest part of the cemetery is located north of Ottawa Street and features the Kennedy Mausoleum, the last resting place of former Minister of Railways and Canals the Hon. William Costello (1868-1923) and his wife Mary Kennedy.
