Located at the junction of the Taedong and Nam rivers, Sungho-guyok is an industrial district in East Pyongyang. It borders Kangdong County and was established in September 1959. The district has significant coal and mineral resources which essentially power Pyongyang. Recently there have been infrastructure improvements to the district, one of which is the Nam River Bridge project. There is also a hyrdo-electric power station as well as one of the DPRK's largest concrete production facilities, parts of which can be seen along the river.
