Established in 1957 as an "I" or Intermediate site on the DEW Line, the CAM-E or Keith Bay site operated as a backup radar and communications relay post between the CAM-4 and CAM-5 sites in the CAM Sector of the DEW Line. Staffed year-round by five personnel, the site remained operational until radar and communication system improvements rendered it obsolete in 1963.

Mothballed thereafter and never returning to active service, the site was stripped of the majority of its infrastructure when DEW Line operations ceased in 1993 and is currently targeted for full environmental remediation in the near future.
