5-story Beaux-Arts cooperative-apartment building designed in 1908 by C.P.H. Gilbert as an enormous single-family mansion. It now houses 52 apartments. It is clad in beige-grey brick with a wealth of limestone ornament. Along the avenue, the ground floor is lined with cast-iron storefronts with black canvas awnings. The residential entrance is around the corner on 21st Street, and set inside an arch of stone quoins. Two polished marble columns framed the doorway and support a stone panel carved with "CHELSEA COURT". The windows have prominent splayed lintels up to the 4th floor, which is topped by dentiled band course. On the avenue facade, there are six large curved bays of triple windows framed by stone quoins, with curved stone panels between floors. Each of these bays is crowned by an intricate carved figure. The three narrow bays of single windows have splayed windows like those on the 21st Street side. On both facades, the top floor is intersected by several horizontal band courses, with rows of single windows. Near the roof, a dentiled band course is surmounted by a shallow modillioned cornice. Three white-painted fire escapes run down the facade on the avenue side. The ground floor is occupied by Dil E Punjab Deli, Barking Zoo pet shop, Nest Interiors, Blossom DU Jour vegetarian fast food, Blossom Bakery, Parke & Ronen boutique, and Rafaella on Ninth Italian and vegan restaurant.
