apartment building, 1840s construction
6-story residential building originally completed in 1845 as a 3.5-story townhouse. From 1860 to 1867, it was the home of Henry Jarvis Raymond, the first editor of both the New York Times and Harper's Magazine. The building was raised to six floors and converted to apartments, with a new dark red ironspot brick facade in 1952. It has two bays, with each bay having a triple window consisting of a wider center pane and narrower side panes, with brick sills and lintels.
