130-foot, 12-story cooperative-apartment building completed in 1927. Designed by Sugarman & Berger in the Neo-Romanesque and Byzantine style, it spans the whole frontage of University Place. The facade is clad in brown brick with terra-cotta ornament. The center section (three bays wide) of the 3rd and 4th floors features a Neo-Moorish design with thin spiral-rope columns and rope arches above a balustraded balcony. A decorative band course also spans the whole building below the 3rd floor. A number of stone balconies with wrought-iron railings and semi-circular wrought-iron balconies dot the facade in various places. Another band course is located below the 11th floor. Decorative terra-cotta panels are located between the 11th and 12th floors, and just below the roof cornice. The ground floor is occupied by William-Wayne & Co. home furnishings, Gigi K boutique, Ilana boutique, Doggy Style pet supplies, Beau boutique, Whitney Chemists, Fichera & Perkins Antiques, Devonshire Optical, and Homer furnishings.
