5-story Gothic-revival residential building completed in 1849 as a townhouse. Many of the windows at the old parlor floor level have upper stone panels, incised with a row of Gothic quatrefoil designs. The crenelated roof cornice, attractively covered by a similar one of metal, continues to emphasize the original style. The front stoop and doorway were removed as early as 1906. The entrance, now at sidewalk level on Fifth Avenue, has a doorway embellished in the Gothic manner. A row of shops was added in 1930. The building has been smooth-stuccoed and painted brown. The ground floor is occupied by Le Pain Quotidien bakery.
