apartment building, 1904_construction, Renaissance Revival (architecture)

5-story Renaissance-revival residential building completed in 1904. Designed by Robert Maynicke as a store-and-loft building, it is clad in buff-colored brick and terra-cotta. The 1st and 2nd floors are framed by a heavy terra-cotta architrave which crowns the 2nd floor with an elaborate cartouche over the center. The storefront contains a central projecting display window with original wood details and new plate glass installed in an aluminum frame. This bay is flanked by doorways with modern metal doors and transoms. The 2nd floor has four window openings containing four pairs of 8-paned casement windows topped by 4-paned transoms.

Floors 3-5 are faced in buff-colored brick divided into two bays. Each bay consists of twin windows. Each bay is crowned with brick voussoirs and a keystone. The facade is completed with its original bracketed cornice. The eastern elevation, seen above a neighboring building, is exposed brown brick.

The building was converted to apartments sometime in the late 1900s. The ground floor is occupied by Rafael Interiors.
