3-story Federal-style (with Italianate alterations) residential building completed in 1817 as a 2-story house. Early residents of the building included P.F. Clark, a physician, and A.W. Jones, a dentist. In 1854-55, a story was added and up-to-date ornament, including its bracketed wood roof cornice was added by owners Catherine and George W. Coster.

By the late nineteenth century, the house had been converted to a multiple dwelling, and was occupied mainly by immigrants from Germany and Poland. By 1905, it had been converted to a factory, and for many years was occupied by hat makers. In 1925, a storefront was installed. Around 1970, it was converted to apartments.

It is four bays wide, although the eastern bay only extends up to the 2nd floor. The facade is clad in red brick above a ground floor consisting of brick, glass, and green-painted metal and wood. The windows have projecting sandstone sills, with cast-iron window lintels at the 2nd floor; the 3rd floor has round-arched windows with sandstone impost blocks, and the facade is topped by a bracketed wooden roof cornice.
