4-story Italianate residential building originally completed in 1826 as a 3-story house. It was probably raised to four floors in 1871-72. It is four bays wide, and clad in red brick above the metal and glass storefront. There are stone sills and metal window lintels, painted pale green. The north opening on the 2nd floor, and the 2nd from the south on the 3rd floor have been converted to metal doors, with landings for the pale-green fire escape. At the roof line is a bracketed iron cornice.

From the late 19th century into the 20th century, many hat and tableware merchants occupied the building. After the 1960s, artists began moving into the area, and by 1973 the building was occupied by a store and three art studios. It is now residential. The ground floor is occupied by a Subway sandwiches.
