5-story Federal/Greek-revival residential building originally completed in about 1830 as a 3.5-story single-family home. It is clad in red brick with three bays of windows. A red metal fire escape runs down the facade. In 1837, Phineas T. Barnum (of Barnum & Bailey circus fame) purchased the building as an investment; in 1880, there were five families living there. In 1883, it was sold again and enlarged to its present height. In 1926, it was converted to a factory and store, and was occupied by a variety of garment, textile and hat companies until the 1970s, when loft dwellers began moving in.

It is currently a condominium building. The ground floor is occupied by Il Buco restaurant.
