 apartment building  Add category

3-story Neo-Renaissance residential building completed in 1908. Designed by Robertson & Potter. Originally the stable and laundry building for the hospital building across Staple Street, it is connected by a second-story iron footbridge. The main facade of this brick building is on Jay Street where the original large entrance has been partially filled in and modernized, leaving only the rosette-embellished iron lintel. Narrow stone bands articulate the ground floor above the granite water table. All three visible corners of the building and the rectangular window openings are defined by banded brick.

The ground floor on Staple Street has narrow windows between the stone bands and a large secondary, vehicular entrance which has been sealed. Above the base, the large windows have the same decorative motifs as on Jay Street. A terra-cotta shield marked by "NYH" is located near the corner, at the 3rd floor.
