Şercaia is in the eastern end of the Făgăraşan-foothills villages. In 1584 is documented the first orthodox priest Simion Bărbat, born in Drăguş. The church presents an original synthesis between architectural Brancovenesc-Style and local constructive traditions.
According to the inscription on the portico(ro:pronaos) - inscription faded with time but recorded by Nicolae Iorga at the beginning of the XXth century - this church was built in 1798 by the villagers led by the priest Bucur Bărbat and the archpriest George Petraşcu from Făgăraş. The church dedicated to Saint Paraskevi(ro:Sfânta Cuv. Paraschiva) is included today in the "List of Historical Monuments in Braşov County" (2004) with the code BV-II-m-B-11822.
