Homorod (German Hamruden, Hameruden, Hammeroden, Homoroden, Homrod, Hungarian Homorod) is a town in Brasov, Transylvania, Romania. The village Homorod.În residence during the twelfth century, the time of King Geza II, came settlers from Flanders (hospites flandrenses), who spoke a language quite different from that of the Saxons, but they were all of German origin. They settled on a hill near the village Homorod today and the city was then Petersdorf, after St. Peter, who was patron of the church.
Common administrative Homorod consists of three villages, namely:
- Homorod the first document in the National Archives in 1250
- Mercheasa the first document in 1448
- The first document Jimbor 1432
The village is situated in central Romania, in southeast Transylvanian plateau in so-called "Depression Homoroadelor" at a distance of 4 km. the old town Rupea.
