118 Lexington Avenue

USA / New Jersey / West New York / Lexington Avenue, 118
 mixed-used building, apartment building

3-story (plus raised basement storefront) mixed-use building completed in 1880. It is clad in brownstone, with a projecting metal-and-glass storefront along the ground level topped by a sloping blue vinyl roof. There is a high stoop with brick risers and stone steps at the south end of the east facade on Lexington Avenue, leading up to a black wooden door below a ribbed metal transom. To the right of the entrance, above the storefront, are two single-windows. The upper floors have three bays of single-windows. The facade is crowned by a bracketed black metal roof cornice.

The north facade on 28th Street has a single-window at each end of the upper floors, shorter at the top floor. In the middle the 2nd floor has another single-window, and the 3rd floor has a projecting metal oriel window with angled sides and a sloped metal cornice angling outward; the middle window of the oriel is replaced by a metal panel. Above the upper-right corner of the oriel is a small single-window at the top floor. The roof cornice continues onto this facade, but with brackets only at the east end.

A metal vent pipe runs up the facade at the west end, and there is a 2-story rear extension with stacked metal-and-glass storefronts, topped by a wooden fence. The storefronts are occupied by Little Michael convenience store, Classic Barber Shop, and Crystal Psychic Readings.
