This was the location of Lloyd Street Grounds, the ball park where the original Milwaukee Brewers played from 1895-1901. The team was a minor league team, and became a major league team at the start of the 1901 season. The Western League minor league became the major league American Association, later to become the American League.
After the 1901 season the Brewers moved to St. Louis as the Browns from 1902-1953 and in 1954 moved to Baltimore as the current day Orioles.
