This neighborhood of 40,000 people is one of the most economically and ethnically diverse neighborhoods in the entire Midwest. Sherman Park is known for its great classic housing stock dating from the early 20th Century, tree-lined boulevards, and its tolerance and acceptance toward people from all walks of life. The neighborhood is comprised of a mix of ethnicities and is home to a substantial Orthodox Jewish community.

  • I would say three synagogues, a kollel, and a Jewish day school constitute a "substantial" Jewish community. Oh, and the hundreds of families who use these services and live in the neighborhood. Sherman Park is a big neighborhood, and some parts of it are on the decline, while other parts are pretty stable.
