This is the site of Mrs Edith Rockefeller McCormick and Harold Fowler McCormick's palatial mansion, known as Villa Turicum. The Italian style mansion and grounds cost $5,000,000 to build in 1912, and was situated on over 200 acres overlooking Lake Michigan.

The house and grounds fell into decay after the decline and death of Edith Rockefeller McCormick, and the house was torn down in 1965 after years of vandalism and neglect. The extensively landscaped lands were subdivided and sold for development.

  • Apparently, some of the new owners have preserved some of the decorative elements from the landscaped grounds.
