The Weymouth Town Bridge is double leaf bascule road bridge joining the parishes of Melcombe Regis (northern side) and Weymouth.
"Present bridge was opened HRH The Duke of York KG on the 4th July 1930. This bridge replaced a swing bridge constructed in 1824.
The first bridge erected in 1597 was a wooden structure of 17 arches with a draw-bridge and completed the unification of the two ancient borough's of Weymouth and Melcombe Regis to effect which Queen Elisabeth granted a charter in 1571."
