Part of the Royal Borough of Kingston and includes a train station where fast long-distance trains call retaining its Victorian era founded 'flyer' express service to London supporting upmarket bars, restaurants and professional services businesses. The former manor of Kingston today has a large private school for girls, a further such school for boys in its Southborough part, and is an expensive suburb, popular with senior executives: the setting of popular TV series "The Good Life" starring Richard Briers and Penelope Keith. Its social housing is of high quality and scarce. Surbiton has a Thames riverside including Raven's Ait used by a sailing club and the Queens Promenade from where leisure cruises can be taken.
